Taylor Swift Sent Victoria Arlen Flowers After She Danced to 'Look What You Made Me Do' on DWTS

Taylor Swift Sent Victoria Arlen Flowers After She Danced to 'Look What You Made Me Do' on DWTS

by Dana Rose Falcone @ PEOPLE.com

Wishes from Taylor Swift make for a truly happy birthday. After Victoria Arlen danced to the singer’s hit “Look What You Made Me Do” on Monday night’s Dancing With the Stars, Swift sent her flowers with a sweet note.

“Victoria, you are incredible and I was so honored you danced to my song. I’m so inspired by you. Love, Taylor,” Arlen, who turned 23 Tuesday, read aloud after cohost Erin Andrews presented the paralympian with the gift.

For Arlen, the song choice made perfect sense. “I danced to her song ’22’ when I turned 22 on my last birthday, so I danced to her yesterday for this birthday,” she explained.

PEOPLE’s special issue 25 Seasons of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is on stands now.

The DWTS family also presented the ESPN host with a bright pink cake — the color she wore on the season 25 premiere to remind her of her first wheelchair, crutches and leg brace — topped with a disco ball.

A new age ushered in fresh bout of confidence for Arlen, who exposed her legs for the first time on the show Tuesday. The milestone comes just one year after she regained the ability to walk following almost four years in a vegetative state due to her transverse myelitis and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.

“It’s putting on a whole different character and that’s very daunting for me,” Arlen said in rehearsal with partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

Getting out of her comfort zone paid off for the pair; They earned a score of 20 out of 30 from the judges on Latin night.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

Everything We Know About Jack's Death on This Is Us

by Michele Corriston @ PEOPLE.com

Spoiler alert: Our favorite TV dad, Jack Pearson, likely died in a fire, based on the shocking ending to the This Is Us season 2 premiere.

At PEOPLE and EW’s screening and Q&A, the cast alluded to more hints about Jack’s passing, specifically in the scene where teenage kids Kate and Randall hear the tragic news.

“That’s just a piece of the puzzle,” Moore told PEOPLE.

The clues? Kate holding a stuffed dog, Randall with a red-headed girlfriend by his side, and Kevin nursing a broken leg leading up to the big monumental event.  Rebecca is also wearing a Steeler’s jersey, representing her husband’s favorite football team.

Nate Berkus Shares How His Entertaining Style Has Changed Since Welcoming Daughter Poppy

by Megan Stein @ PEOPLE.com

Nate Berkus is the expert on all things party planning. But since becoming a father to one-year-old daughter, Poppy, the designer’s go-to entertaining style has had a few changes.

“We entertain around her nap schedule now,” Berkus, artistic advisor for LG Studio, told PEOPLE at a breakfast on June 8, which celebrated the sleek line of high-end appliances he helped design.

But when Poppy isn’t snoozing, Berkus, 44, and husband Jeremiah Brent, 31, keep her busy with poolside play dates that are a far cry from a formal outdoor gathering.

“Our home is now filled with blow up toys from Target in the pool as opposed to margaritas,” Berkus said.

And the menu planning is even simpler.

“We throw food on the barbecue, we’ve actually even had a taco truck come once,” Berkus said. “We do put out snacks for the little ones, and they sit and throw them in the pool.”

Chip and Joanna Gaines Share Their Hilarious First Date Story

by Megan Stein @ PEOPLE.com

Chip and Joanna Gaines are the definition of marriage goals, but their relationship didn’t necessarily have a fairytale start.

In the first chapter of The Magnolia Storyreleased as a sneak peek today, the Fixer Upper dream team spills the details of how they met — and it wasn’t exactly love at first sight.

Joanna agreed to go out on a date with Chip after meeting him and his roommate “Hot John” — who she actually tried to approach minutes earlier, but was too shy — in the waiting room of her dad’s auto shop. She had second thoughts, however, after Chip arrived an hour and a half late to pick her up.

The chapter continues to describe the timeline of their relationship, which didn’t actually start until months after they first went out, when Chip (in typical guy fashion) finally called Joanna back.

“I’d made a bet with Hot John to see who could hold out the longest before calling our dates back,” Chip writes “I really wanted that fifty dollars from John! That’s the only reason I didn’t call.”

After they went out a second time, the rest was history.

Sasha Pieterse Reveals She's Already Lost 15 Pounds on DWTS Amid Health Struggle: 'I Feeling Like Me Again'

by Dana Rose Falcone @ PEOPLE.com

Dancing With the Stars season 25 is only in its second week, but the competition has already having an impact on contestant Sasha Pieterse.

The Pretty Little Liars star, 21, revealed on Tuesday’s episode that after gaining nearly 70 pounds over two years due to a hormone condition called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, she’s lost 15 pounds.

“I’m feeling like me again,” Pieterse told viewers. “Being on the show, I’ve lost over 15 pounds. It’s not an easy road, but being able to focus on getting myself healthy again, and the fact that I’m seeing results, getting better is all I can ask for.”

PEOPLE’s special issue 25 Seasons of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is on stands now.

The actress said she received some nasty comments after she started to gain weight. “It was really, really hurtful the way people reacted,” the star revealed. “People were staying stuff like: ‘She’s pregnant.’ ‘You’re fat.’ They were angry or mad that I looked like this. It was one of the hardest things I have ever been through.”

On top of that, Pieterse didn’t know why she was seeing numbers rise on the scale.

“I had no idea what was going on and I didn’t have any way of solving it,” she explained. “Very recently I was diagnosed with PCOS, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, hormone imbalance. And finally I knew why this was happening to me.”

After dancing with partner Gleb Savchenko to Hailee Steinfeld’s “Most Girls,” Pieterse continued to glow.

“I feel like I’ve always been a happy person, and I’ve been so blessed with and amazing family and friends,” she told cohost Erin Andrews. “But I don’t know, I went through a hard time, so feeling like me again, it means the world honestly.”

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays on ABC at 8 p.m ET.

Joanna Gaines Thanks Fans Since Fixer Upper Final Season Announcement: 'We Really Have Saved the Best For Last'

Joanna Gaines Thanks Fans Since Fixer Upper Final Season Announcement: 'We Really Have Saved the Best For Last'

by Alexia Fernandez @ PEOPLE.com

Joanna Gaines is thanking Fixer Upper fans after news broke that the upcoming fifth season of the hit HGTV show would be the last one.

The Fixer Upper host, 39, shared a photo of herself and her husband, Chip Gaines, on Instagram Tuesday, a few hours after their final season announcement was made.

“Thank you all for watching, caring and cheering us on these past few years. We are overwhelmed by your support and your kindness. You have become a part of our story forever,” she wrote in the caption. “Season 5 of Fixer Upper is scheduled to start airing in November and we really have saved the best for last!0”

The couple revealed the news on their blog Tuesday, which came as a shock to viewers who have followed them on their journey from a small-town construction and decorating duo in Waco, Texas, to international celebrities.

“It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last,” they wrote on their blog. “While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with. Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place.”

Since the pilot aired in May 2013, Fixer Upper has become one of the highest-rated shows in the network’s history. But being on TV is just one part of Chip and Jo’s home improvement empire.

Watch: Fixer Upper’s Chip and Joanna Gaines on How They Fell In Love

The couple’s growing portfolio of successful businesses includes retail compound Magnolia Market at the Silos (which draws up to 40,000 visitors every week); paint, rug, wallpaper and furniture lines; a quarterly magazine; a real estate company; a luxury vacation rental; a soon-to-open restaurant and a New York Times bestselling book, with a second, Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff, due out Oct. 17.

And if their fame and fortune suddenly came to a halt, well, they’d be okay with that too. “We’ve got everything that our hearts desire,” Chip said. “I don’t see how we could be happier.”

And the couple never wanted their children Drake, 12, Ella, 10, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 7, to grow up in the spotlight.

“They’re so young, and we want to give them the chance to have a normal childhood,” said Joanna, 39. “Family is the most important thing in the world.”

Shonda Rhimes & Grey's Anatomy Cast Take a Knee in 'Solidarity of Racial Justice' at 300th Episode Party

Shonda Rhimes & Grey's Anatomy Cast Take a Knee in 'Solidarity of Racial Justice' at 300th Episode Party

by Karen Mizoguchi @ PEOPLE.com

Shonda Rhimes and the cast of Grey’s Anatomy are supporting NFL players’ protest of racial injustice in the wake of the backlash from President Donald Trump.

“and we took a knee in solidarity of racial justice. #takeaknee#greysanatomy #300th,” Rhimes, 47, shared on Instagram Tuesday, along with a photo of her, Ellen Pompeo, Jesse Williams and Debbie Allen on one knee at the 300th episode celebration party. (Jason Winston George, who plays Ben Warren, was cropped out of the picture.)

“We kneel because we are supposed to be one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. #ilovethesepeople #300thepisode,” Pompeo captioned the same photo.

Meanwhile, Williams, 36, responded to a Twitter follower who tried to to get the hashtag #BoycottGreysAnatomy trending after their protest picture.

“No one’s scared of u. Also, u follow me. #GetYourLifeTogether See u this Thursday for our season premiere at 8pm!” the actor wrote.

The ABC drama, which is one of the longest-running scripted shows in TV history, will mark its 300th episode this season on Thursday.

Also on Monday, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny took a knee on the set of the upcoming reboot of The X-Files.

NFL players and celebrities continue to show their solidarity with athletes like Colin Kaepernick, who made headlines in Aug. 2016 for refusing to stand for the national anthem to protest racial injustice in the United States.

While numerous NFL stars kneeled and locked arms during the national anthem during a Sunday game in London, celebrities, including Stevie Wonder, Diddy and Uzo Aduba, lent their voices to the movement.

On Saturday, Rhimes tweeted: “I think: By kneeling, players don’t disrespect the flag. They ask US to respect the flag. They ask us to make the anthem true for all of us.”

During a rally speech in Alabama on Friday, Trump stated, “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, say, ‘Get that son of a b–ch off the field right now. Out, you’re fired.’”

In addition, the president had a series of follow-up tweets. “If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL, or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect…our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem,” he wrote. “If not, YOU’RE FIRED. Girl Scout Cookie Baking Mixes to Hit Stores Nationwide

Samoas in cupcake form was a thing we never knew we needed, but now it’s the only thing we can think about.

Pillsbury just unveiled Girl Scout Cookie baking mixes, which are available in Thin Mints and Caramel & Coconut – a.k.a. Samoas – flavors. The four new mixes are for baking cupcakes, brownies and blondies — unfortunately, you won’t be able to make actual Girl Scout Cookies, because that would put a lot of 7-year-olds out of business.

GSC loyalists are, to put it mildly, freaking out.

The mixes, now available nationwide, retail for $3.29 each — almost $2 less than what you’d pay for a box of cookies.

This Is Us Predicted the Kardashian-Jenner Baby Boom: 'Next Week, There'll Be a Bazillion More of Them'

by Aurelie Corinthios @ PEOPLE.com

The universe works in mysterious ways — and in an almost unbelievable sequence of events, the much-anticipated season 2 premiere of This Is Us predicted a Kardashian-Jenner baby boom just hours after news broke that Khloé Kardashian is pregnant.

SPOILER ALERT: The following story contains details from Tuesday’s season premiere of This Is Us.

In a scene from Tuesday’s season premiere of the beloved NBC series, Justin Hartley‘s character Kevin Pearson FaceTimed his girlfriend Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge) after leaving the set of his movie in Los Angeles, asking her if there’s any chance she could fly in. She told him she couldn’t make it because her mom is sick, bemoaning the fact that she would be missing out on celeb-spotting a Kardashian.

“The Kardashians aren’t going anywhere,” he reassured her. “They’re like gremlins — I promise next week there will be a bazillion more of them.”

Ironically, the scene was filmed long before news broke Friday that Kris Jenner‘s youngest daughter Kylie, 20, is expecting a baby girl with her rapper boyfriend Travis Scott. News of Kylie’s pregnancy was swiftly followed by her older sister Khloé’s own baby news on Tuesday: The 33-year-old reality star is expecting a baby with her boyfriend, Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson. And sister Kim Kardashian West, 36, is expecting her third child with husband Kanye West in January via a surrogate.

Though none of the women have publicly commented on the news, a source told PEOPLE on Tuesday that “over the moon” Kylie and Khloé are both “due around the same time.”

“They are approximately four months along,” the source said. “Kylie loves how close-knit her family is and is thrilled to bring that to her own family. She feels more prepared than ever, especially since she will be sharing this journey with Khloé.”

“They are looking at it like a unifying experience for them as sisters,” the source added. “Getting pregnant at the same time was totally unplanned, but they are really happy about it.”

This Is Us airs Tuesdays (9 p.m. ET) on NBC, and Keeping Up with the Kardashians season 14 premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on E!

by eglanfield @ The Sun

LABOUR’S anti-semitism row deepened last night as activists expressed fury that Jeremy Corbyn failed to turn up to a reception in honour of Israel. One of the leader’s closest allies said he couldn’t attend because he was busy preparing a speech – but he went to two other parties in the same night. The Labour […]

This Is Us Shocker: Is This How Milo Ventimiglia's Jack Pearson Died? Twitter Goes Crazy

by Lanford Beard and Michele Corriston @ PEOPLE.com

This Is Us fans have long speculated what exactly caused the mysterious death of series patriarch, Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) — now they may finally have an answer.

On the NBC hit’s season 2 premiere, fans learned circumstances that could have led to the beloved character’s death. And, as is custom with the tear-jerking drama, many, many tissues were required to get through the jaw-dropping moment.

WARNING: Spoilers ahead …

The episode opened with Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack separated — but she decides she can’t give up on their relationship and tries to bring him home.

“I’m still really upset, and I don’t think I’m ready to talk about all that yet, but I shouldn’t have let you leave,” she pleads. “Because that’s not what we do. That’s not who we are. That’s not us.”

Jack insists that he is an alcoholic: “I have been drunk for weeks, and I thought I had it under control, like the first time, but I have a problem, Rebecca. And I’ve hidden it from you for a very long time. And I’ve hidden it from my kids, and I need to get a handle on it before I can walk back into that house. I’m sorry, baby. I am very embarrassed, and I am very sorry. I need to fix this on my own.”

Rebecca knocks on the door again and demands, “Get in the car, Jack. You are my husband, and I am your wife, and if you have a problem, we will fix it together.”

They kiss, and he obliges.

“A few months from now, everything will be back to normal,” she says.

Cut to the teenage Pearson kids sobbing as Kate (Chrissy Metz) says, “We have to find Kev. He needs to hear it from me.”

And at the end of the episode, Rebecca pulls up to a house with bags of Jack’s possessions, only to find it burnt to the ground, with firefighters surrounding the scene. She screams.

Did Jack die in the fire? Only time will tell — and Twitter is freaking out.

“I don’t know how to feel,” Moore told PEOPLE after the screening. “It was weird to watch it, but I’m so glad we got to watch it together. It’s nice to know that some piece of the puzzle.”

Clues included Kevin having a broken leg and Rebecca wearing a Steeler’s jersey.

Jack’s big reveal comes after endless theorizing, hair-pulling and gnashing of teeth since it was revealed he is dead in episode 5, “The Game Plan.”

Clues were doled out, characters — including Jack’s daughter Kate — assigned blame to themselves, and still very little could prepare fans for the inevitable, “heart-wrenching” discovery.

Ventimiglia’s costars, who have shed tears while watching episodes along with fans, have had plenty to say about his character’s eventual demise — even if they weren’t always able to give up key details for fear of spoiling the twist-heavy series.

I think Jack died the way that he lived, by always trying to do the right thing,” said Sterling K. Brown, who plays son Randall. “His death is in fitting with the type of father and the husband that he always tried to be, even when he fell short of the mark.”

Ventimiglia himself asked viewers to focus on Jack’s life, saying, “I would urge people to … just accept that Jack has limited time, and know that every moment he has with his kids, with his wife, is going to be the most important thing to him.”

Vanities

When L’Oréal Paris recently launched their Makeup Genius app, they explained, It’s not just virtual—it’s augmented reality. Hesitant to jump down the rabbit hole of selfies, I somewhat reluctantly downloaded the app. And I quickly learned that L’Oréal Paris is leading the charge for a new breakthrough in the way we look at beauty, shopping, cosmetic application, and, of course, technology. In short, the app’s last name is Genius for a reason.

Dodgy landlords’ cramming migrants into illegal rentals are forcing Brits out of the job market

by Sun Internet 2 @ The Sun

A DODGY landlord has been netting £105,000 a year rent for a three-bed semi by cramming it with 35 immigrants paying £250-a-month each for a mattress on the floor. Brent Council raided the North London property after noise complaints from locals and found men sleeping eight to a room in slum conditions. And believe me, […]
