Cruelty-Free Favorites from August

by Tashina Combs @ Logical Harmony

It’s time for my monthly favorites again! I think that cruelty-free favorites videos are a fun way to learn more about the cruelty-free beauty products that I have been reaching for the most. Because I try a lot of new cruelty-free products each month,  sometimes this is a tough video to film. How can I narrow things down? But each month I do find that there are cruelty-free products I am reaching for time and time again. This includes some hair care, skin care, makeup, and other beauty products. Products mentioned in my Cruelty-Free Favorites from August video are: Lush Rose Lollipop Lip Balm Kopari Lip Love Cover FX Blurring Primer Lily Lolo Coralista Blush & Highlight Duo Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray NCLA Pressed Collection COOLA Sunless Tan Face Serum OSEA Sea Vitamin Boost Derma E Nourishing Rose Cleansing Oil Marley’s Monsters Cloths Kopari Coconut Body Milk Nature’s Gate Glow Lotion Lush Sleepy Lotion Little Moon Essentials Sleep Comes Easy Mist Schmidt’s Sensitive Skin Jasmine Tea Deodorant Kaia Naturals Takasumi Detox Deodorant (use code LOGICALHARMONY for 15% off) Apoterra Skincare Sea Mist Salt Spray (use code LOGICALHARMONY for 10% off) During this video, I also mentioned the following cruelty-free beauty […]

The Ultimate Guide to Cruelty-Free Makeup Brushes

by Tashina Combs @ Logical Harmony

Many Logical Harmony readers ask for help finding cruelty-free makeup brushes. For many people who transition to a cruelty-free beauty routine, switching to cruelty-free makeup brushes is often one of the last steps. So many makeup brushes are made from animal fur or animal hair. While some brands do claim that it is ethically sourced, the truth is that they often don’t know where the fur is sourced from. Just like with false lashes, many animal hair makeup brushes are bi-products of the factory farming or fur industries. While most cruelty-free consumers do focus on avoiding animal testing, many also avoid makeup brushes that are not synthetic. That’s why I decided to create this guide to cruelty-free makeup brushes. There are so many vegan makeup brushes out there to try. All the brands listed do make vegan makeup brushes but may make some non-vegan brushes as well. What are Cruelty-Free Makeup Brushes? Cruelty-free makeup brushes are made from synthetic fibers. They are not made from animal fur or animal hair. Can brands that are cruelty-free make makeup brushes from animal fur or animal hair? Yes. Because the term “cruelty-free” refers to animal testing, brands that do not test on animals can make makeup […]

In the midst of the chaos of the Spring/Summer 2018 runway shows and Versace's blow-out finale on Friday evening, it appears that for a while now, there has been something of an unspoken battle simmering between some of fashion’s biggest brands and influencers, and a handful of the street style photographers who have had a hand in helping to make them so famous. Too Faced is Now Owned by Estee Lauder - Logical Harmony

Logical Harmony

Today well loved cruelty-free brand Too Faced announced that they are now part of the Estee Lauder family of brands. Rumors of this acquisition started circulating last year but were put to rest when Too Faced received the financial backing of a financial institution instead of another cosmetic company. It was announced today that Estee Lauder has completed their acquisition of Too Faced. One of the main reasons Too Faced has cited in the past for looking to take on more investment was to extend their reach into the European market. That has come up again today, with Jerrod Blandino telling Women’s Wear Daily that they want to take a more global approach with the brand. He also mentioned the possibility of opening Too Faced stores, which is something Estee Lauder has helped other cosmetic brands do. Knowing their audience, Jerrod Blandino has already addressed animal testing.  “They respect our values, our core beliefs that we built our brand on. We will not be animal testing, we will not be going into China, we will not be made to fold into a corporate culture that we do not have. They love and respect what we have created and are just going to support us …

The Truth Behind May Contain Ingredient Lists

by Tashina Combs @ Logical Harmony

One of the most common questions that I get is asking what the May Contain Ingredient Lists on products mean. I get at least a handful of emails each week from confused readers who don’t understand why a product that claims to be vegan has “may contain carmine” or “may contain beeswax” listed on the packaging. Does this mean the product isn’t vegan? Does it contain carmine, beeswax, or other ingredients? This is something I have talked to many brands about. In this post, I share the three common reasons why brands put May Contain Ingredient Lists on their packaging. This is the most recent update of a post I originally published on August 19, 2015. What do may contain ingredient lists mean? Often times after a list of ingredients, you will see “may contain” followed by another list of various ingredients. This is very common on the packaging for cosmetics. Especially for products that contain a variety of shades. There are a few different things that may contain ingredient lists mean, and those will be explained in this post. 1. The brand wants to use one ingredient list for all shades of a product, even if not all of the shades […]

Versace’s Spring/Summer 2018 shows was dedicated to the house’s late founder, Gianni Versace, who was killed in Miami in 1997. Despite Mr. Versace's absence from the fashion industry for two decades now, his legacy is arguably just as strong as ever. In fact, as Vogue noted recently, “Much of what is considered de rigueur about fashion in 2017, [Mr. Versace] put his stamp on in his 1990s glory days—the splashy, expensively made ad campaigns; the star-studded front rows; indeed, the entire fashion-celebrity nexus."

Cruelty-Free Brands at Dermstore

by Tashina Combs @ Logical Harmony

Are there cruelty-free brands at Dermstore? You may be surprised! This online retailer is starting to carry a lot more cruelty-free brands. Even some of the most popular cruelty-free brands found at Sephora, Ulta, or Nordstrom. For many consumers, big online shops like Dermstore are one of the main places where they purchase cosmetics, skin care, and hair care. It is so helpful to see them carrying more and more cruelty-free brands. Being aware of the cruelty-free brands at Dermstore can be a challenge because there are so many brands available. This list will help make it easier for you! This is the most recent update of a post I originally published on February 8, 2016. All of the cruelty-free brands included here are sold at Dermstore. They are completely cruelty-free and do not take part in any kind of animal testing. Just as with the Cruelty-Free Brand List, it is noted next to a brand if they are owned by a company who tests on animals. It is also noted if they are a 100% vegan brand. The Cruelty-Free Brands at Dermstore are: 100% Pure 21 Drops – 100% vegan Anastasia Beverly Hills Aquis bareMinerals – It should be noted that they are cruelty-free, but […]
